DRAMA AS LAGOS LAWMAKER WALKS OUT OF PLENARY

There was a  drama at the Lagos State House of Assembly on Tuesday during plenary, when a lawmaker representing, mainland 2, Hon Moshood Oshun walked out of the hallowed chamber during the sitting.

The Speaker,of the house Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa had directed Hon. Oshun to take his allocated seat instead of the one he was sitting on.

The lawmaker however, said that he had earlier complained that the seat allocated to him was not convenient.

Obasa now said  if everyone chose his or her seat, how would the chamber looked like.

The speaker now therefore stated that Oshun should comply with the rule of the House or he should take his leave, and at this point, Oshun decided to walk out of the chamber.

It will be recalled that the House had in March, 2020 removed two of its principal officers, the Chief Whip, Hon. Rotimi Abiru and the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Olumuyiwa Jimoh.

Two other members of the House, Hon. Moshood Oshun (Lagos Mainland Constituency II) and Kazeem Raheem Adewale (Ibeji Lekki Constituency II), were also suspended indefinitely.

Announcing the suspension of the members, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, stated that the House as the hope of the people and the heartbeat of democracy should be well guided.

“He said hereby invoke Section 68 and Section 70 4 (a, b) 2 and 3 of the House Rules in respect of gross misconduct, insubordination and action that can destablize this house.

"I hereby move that Hon. Moshood Oshun and Hon. Raheem Adewale be placed on suspension indefinitely,” the Speaker said.

The two decisions were supported through voice-votes by members present during plenary. Notice and change in the leadership was contained in a letter read on the floor of the House by the Clerk, Azeez Sanni.

Sanni stated that the 26 members that signed the letter urged the House “to change the leadership of the House, including Rotimi Abiru as the Chief Whip and Olumuyiwa Jimoh as Deputy Chief Whip.”

However, the suspension of the four lawmakers was later lifted after the intervention of the leaders of the party.

We suffered a lot because they also had chances.” Madrid and Barca had earlier played out the first ever women’s Clasico after Madrid finally launched their female team this season. Yet Barcelona showed their superiority in a 4-0 rout. But the men’s team have become something of a defensive juggernaut under Zidane after their solidity and resilience formed...
