BREAKING: IGP SETS UP A FRESH UNIT. FORMER SARS TO REPORT AT FORCE HEADQUARTERS

The formation of the new unit was announced 48 hours after the IGP dissolved SARS following a nationwide outrage. In a statement issued on Tuesday, Frank Mba, force spokesman, said the IGP had ordered all personnel of the disbanded SARS to report at force headquarters in Abuja for debriefing. “The Inspector General of Police, IGP M.A. Adamu, NPM, mni has, today, 13th October, 2020, in accordance with Section 18 (10) of the Police Act 2020, ordered all personnel of the defunct SARS to report at the Force Headquarters, Abuja for debriefing, psychological and medical examination. ENUGU CLINCHES PRESIDENT'S TEACHER'S SCHOOL EXCELLENCE AWARD 2020.

  ENUGU State has sustained its outstanding performance at the annual President’s Teachers and Schools Excellence Award (PTSEA). The Principal of Urban Girls’ Secondary School, Enugu, Mrs. Chioma Ebue, was the first Runner-Up (Best Administrator in Junior Secondary School category in Nigeria) at the 2020 edition of the event at Eagle Square, Abuja, to mark Teachers’ Day celebration. Model Secondary School, Nsukka, also in Enugu State, during the 2019 edition of the PTSEA, was the fifth best school in public category in Nigeria. This followed the general assessment of infrastructure, e-library, quality teaching and learning in public secondary schools in the country by the Federal Ministry of Education. FCT SCHOOLS TO RESUME 12TH OF OCTOBER

 By: Agosu Omoleye Schools at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja are to commence academic activities on Monday, October 12. Boarding students are expected to resume on Sunday, October 11 while academic activities begins on Monday. The FCT Minister, Mallam Muhammad Bello made the announcement while briefing journalists in Abuja, on Thursday. He said that the guidelines for the reopening of the schools will soon be released and the academic calendar will cover the third term that was left due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He adds that the FCT did not record any case during the reopening of schools for exit classes and is optimistic that officials and pupils will ensure compliance with COVID-19 protocols once the schools reopen. EFCC GRILLS LAGOS SPEAKER OVER ALLEGED FINANCIAL MISDEMEANOR

Mudashiru Obasa, over allegations of financial recklessness. Obasa, it was learnt, arrived at the EFCC Abuja office at 10:00 am on Thursday. He arrived in company of his lawyers, who were asked to wait at the reception while he was being grilled. IZE-IYAMU JUDGES EDO ELECTION TO BE FAIR SO FAR

The State Department still urges Americans to reconsider travel to China, but it upgraded its advice from a blanket warning not to go to the country. The People's Republic of China "has resumed most business operations (including daycares and schools)," the State Department said. "Other improved conditions have been reported within the PRC," it said. UNITED STATES PLACES VISA BAN ON ELECTION RIGGERS IN NIGERIA

FIRE GUTS TWO BANKS ON LAGOS ISLAND

  Agosu Omoleye Firefighters battle the inferno that engulfed two banks in Victoria Island area of Lagos State. Tragedy struck in Lagos State on Wednesday when fire gutted two new generation bank buildings on Ademola Adetokunbo Street in Victoria Island. The cause of the incident is yet to be ascertained. Unconfirmed reports say a fuel tanker laden with was presumably diesel was at the premises of one of the banks to discharge its product. In the process, an explosion from a yet-to-be-identified source occurred, igniting a massive fire, which soon spread to a neighbouring bank’s building. This was disclosed by the Chairman of Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC), Professor Yomi Dinakin. Announcing the results at the commission’s head office on Sunday in Akure, the state capital, Dinakin noted out of the 18 local government areas in the state, there were no elections in five councils. The five local councils include Akoko North-East, Ose, Ifedore, Odigbo and Irele.Only the APC fielded candidates in the local governments, and hence were declared winners. Similarly, the remaining 13 local government areas include: Ese Odo, Akoko South-West, Akure South, Ilaje, Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo, Okitipupa, Ondo West and Akure North.

JAMB FIXES DATE FOR POST UTME COMMENCEMENT

 By: Agosu Omoleye The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has shifted the post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) screening for the 2020 admission processes into universities, polytechnics and colleges of education till September 7. Ishaq Oloyede, the board registrar, announced the new date after a consultative virtual meeting with vice-chancellors, rectors, and provosts of tertiary institutions. He said the shift in the date of the admission process from the earlier announced August 21, was to accommodate candidates who would be taking part in this year’s school-based Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).
