Police following the increasing numbers of deaths and accidental discharges, extortion and extra judicial killings recorded in the country.  The aggreived youth have been engaging in peaceful protests in order to drive home their demands as responsible citizens but there came a twist to the story as the military has been involved.  Gunshots can be heard almost everywhere as bodies of the peaceful protesters littered the roads. By: Agosu Omoleye The United States has called on the Nigerian government to take the lead in the fight against insurgency in the country. The Commander of U.S. Special Operations Command in Africa, Major General Dagvin Anderson, gave the advice at a digital press briefing on Wednesday.  said the insurgents have started penetrating the north-western part of the country where they were already making some in-roads, adding that they were looking to expand further south into the coastal areas. Anderson said the U.S. would continue to support the Nigerian government with intelligence sharing on the activities of the terrorists. He noted that this would also include supplying constant information on the operations of the insurgents in Borno State and the North-West. The major general stated that for international efforts to yield desired results in the fight against terrorism in Nigeria, the government must take the lead. By: Agosu Omoleye Akinwumi Adesina, president of the Africa Development Bank, has been exonerated of all whistleblower allegations by the independent review panel led by Mary Robinson, former president of Ireland. This clears the way for Adesina, who is the sole candidate for the upcoming election, to seek a second term. “The panel concurs with the committee in its findings in respect of all the allegations against the president and finds that they were properly considered and dismissed by the committee,” a document made available to our correspondent quoted the panel to have said. Some whistleblower allegations of favouritism had been levelled against Adesina and although he had been cleared by the ethics committee of the bank, the US had requested for an independent investigation saying it was not satisfied with the report of the committee. My first major personality interview actually. A boy went to the sea side early in the morning for fresh breeze and he saw the waves bringing Oysters to the sea shore. He wondered how he could save the beautiful Oysters and started throwing them back into the sea one after the other.
