Behold, the face of the slave master Hon. Jerry Chijioke aka Agujiegbe ( The lion with the gun)
Quite a lot has happened to this culture ranging from westernization to the brazen disregard for culture, zero brotherliness and insensitivity to the plight of the common men in Enugu under the leadership of slave masters. The Enugu politics used to be the envy of other states because of the calibre of people found in the political space is fast taking a downward slope under the watch of the current crop of politicians in power.
This impunity has to be checked if the name of this great state will continue to appear in gold as was the intention of the founding fathers. It does not take straining the eyes to see that the state and the Igbo Nation in general has produced a lot of “A” rated brains. Enugu is home for one of the greatest universities we have in West Africa which is a testimony to the level of education of the Igbo people. The question n the lips of many is the reason why the state will be suffering in the hands of uninformed few.
Recently there were publications reporting some kind of empowerment programs which was frowned at both at home and in diaspora. This attitude of slavery is totally wrong and something has to be done to salvage the state. It is worthy of note that the attacks on political stalwarts are orchestrated by some few double-faced greedy politicians whom we will be xraying in the course of this write up. Just before you start wondering and asking why you should bother yourself about this whole misdeed being carried out by the “leaders”, remember that this is where we can boldly call home and we must all come together and chart a course to make it a better place.
The youths of this great state have expressed their displeasure at the way the polity of the state is being run, youths in diaspora have complained about the incessant attacks and disgrace being meted out to the elders but it has fallen on deaf ears. Some men have been fingered in this rather unfortunate developments and this write-up will be beaming spotlight on them. We cannot fold our arms and allow the few destroy the future of our youths, send our elders to early graves and mortgage the future of our children even the unborn with this style of leadership.
This is not an attack on anybody but a wake up call to the youths in order for them to avoid anybody or any activity capable of impacting negatively to the growth of the state which will have an effect on the Igbo nation presidency ambition of 2023.
Questions are flying around about the elected and political appointees, some of whom are loyal to their master by day and playing the saint with Senator Ekweremadu at night. You might want to say this is politics but an English adage says “what is what doing at all is worth doing well”. The principle of natural justice also posits the “He who comes to equity must come with clean hands”. This is the time when all hands must be on deck to support this movement and save our darling state from these disgraceful crop of politicians.
This double standard has to end as such style of politic is highly distateful and does not send a positive signal about the state.
Hon. Jerry Chijioke Harford also known among his camp dwellers as Agujiegbe is another man to watch out for because he is a double faced politician and a bad ambassador of the ideals of democracy considering his ways and antecedents. An unrepentant sycophant who is ready to trade all his pride as a human being for the pittance he gets from powers that be.
His conduct on various occasions have driven home the fact that without some shady lifestyle he will be roaming the streets of Enugu in rags. He is just a desperate crook who has no other interest at heart aside from survival from the crumbs that fall from the master’s table. So sad!
It is rather unfortunate that this man who can not boldly point out to a decent means of livelihood is parading himself as one of the leaders in the political landscape of Enugu. In some climates, this dishonourable man should be cooling his heels in some correctional facilities where is should be taking vocational classes in order for him to fit into the normal society. Jerry left Isu Awaa where he was born after his secondary school for Gambia where he joined some kind of business he refers to as “fast lane” only to reapear in 2007 with several heavy duty vehicles. He started buying properties and building up his own slave camps by attracting sycophants to himself.
Quite natural for people with ill gotten overnight wealth, Jerry became intoxicated by this new found wealth which made his followers advice him to run in the 2007 general elections against Honourable Toby Okechukwu to represent the great people of Agwu/Aniri/Oju River in the Federal House of Representatives. According to finding from reliable sources Jerry was given a consolation prize of 10million naira after he lost gallantly at the polls even losing his own polling unit. Still feeling giddy from his consolation prize and unearned resources, Jerry contested for the executive chairmanship of Agwu LGA when the former governor Chime Sullivan conducted the council election. Quite a lot of political hiccups followed and soon there was a call for a stakeholders’ meeting where Sullivan asked Jerry the rationale behind his desperate quest for the local council boss’ sit.
It was an awkward moment many will not forget in a hurry as the uninformed shallow minded Jerry blurted out in his ignorance “that is why I am called the AGUJIEGBE, meaning the lion with a gun”. Irritated by this primitive display of empty headed pride, Sullivan mockingly put him in his place as unfit to govern even a street before dismissing the gathering. This was the beginning of the end for poor Jerry as his political opponent won with a landslide and chose not to have anything to do with half baked Jerry. This infuriated the loser because at that point he was already going broke from mismanagement of the ill gotten fast lane cash. With head buried in shame Jerry sold off his heavy duty vehicles and headed to Uganda where he must have been running his “fast lane career” until his sudden reappearance in 2019 general elections.
As is his custom, he came back with more funds and started dazzling his followers with purchase of housing units which he hopes to sell off as usual anyways. While house shopping, he bought one of Toby Okechukwu’s building located on Independence layout, Enugu when he declared one again to represent Agwu North which a woman Hon. Jane Eneh, the current whip of the house won. At this time his show of wealth failed him. He failed gallantly!. He started going about with the title of an “Honourable” with the hope of securing a slot in the list of the commissioners but was rudely shocked as his name never made it to the list of the nominees.
Jerry took a break and left the country as usual but this time around flogging the social space with merry pictures- an avenue to off the fast lane cash from Uganda. This was cut short as he was appointed by the state governor as a special assistant with no portfolio. This position emboldened Jerry such that he now undermines top government officials and goes about bragging that he has an automatic ticket to contest against the incumbent chief whip come 2023.
Jerry recently started parading himself as a man of God and opened a church in one of his properties in independence Layout in Enugu. Currently the church is fast growing with unsuspecting members in search of God’s word and miracles. Indeed the vulture is a patient bird like Jame Hardley Chase said in one of his works. Let it be known also that “you can fool some people sometimes but you can’t fool all the people all the time” as Bob Marley said.
Akachukwu Nnaemeka is another puppet in the hand of Sir Obi and it is not a surprise that sir Obi made him the secretary of Pedro/Lotana campaign organisation. The crook accepted the offer and pledged his loyalty but for the obvious reason that will never erase the spot of the leopard, he goes about championing the crusade for Senator Ekweremadu without an iota of shame. He insults the governor at the slightest chance and yet take advantage of the government grants through his master Sir Obi. All these sound funny to the normal minds but that is the reality the people of Enugu are made to face.
Among Sir Obi’s pupetts is another crook Ude Tochuckwu who goes to the social sphere to insult the governor all in the name of being a social crictic despite the fact that he is also a major beneficiary in the government grants through the office of the commissioner of science and Technology his master in crime. With all these high level of corruption and complete deviation from the democratic ideals one is tempted to wonder what the future holds for the common men if these set of people continue to have a field day.
After xraying these bad eggs and their slave master, you will agree that the whole administration will be going downhill in no time if some drastic measures are not taken. Sir Obi’s network will only spell doom for the state and make the labor of the past heroes go in vain. In order for the labor of the great founding fathers not to be in vain, there is the need for every well meaning and right thinking members of the society to completely avoid these men and some other one we will be bringing under our spotlight.
We desire a state where democratic ideals will be placed over sentiments, power quests, and favoritism. We desire an egalitarian society where men will be treated as men and peaceful coexistence will reign supreme regardless of race, penchants or creed. Sir Obi is a slave master who has no genuine love for anyone, he will only use his puppets for a while before he dumps them. There is the need for everyone to stand up for what is right and embrace ethical politics.
Questions we should be asking are; what happens if the good people of the state are being relegated to the background while these crooks hold exalted positions?
What happens to Enugu as a atate and how does the state hope to contribute meaningfully if these same set of slave masters who are unrepentantly corrupt continually stay in power?
What is the lot of the Igbo Nation and the 2023 agenda considering the rot in the system?. It is not too late to take our destiny in our hands and correct the wrong impressions these men have created for the party, the state and the Igbo Nation in general. Let us do our part of the nation building by desisting from being tools in their hands and fix our gaze on the betterment of the state because the pittance these slave masters offer can not be compared to the glory ahead of us as a people.
