EDO STATE DRAMA: WHEN YOU RIDE A TIGER TO THE MARKET.

 By: Agosu Omoleye

Friedrich Nietzsche says and I quote: ”A politician divides mankind into two classes: tools and enemies."

Obaseki did all he could to arrive at a divide and rule situation, he elicited supports and sympathy from various quarters and played the victim, but he was so much  carried away by the euphoria that he  forgot to cage and discard his enemies.

Right now, the ghosts of the past  are back to hunt him. Godwin in his smartness decamped to APC while Obaseki is gradually been forsaken by the one's he called his own.

He has clearly forgotten the words of African elders that's says " if you ride a Tiger to the Market place, the people will be scared truly, but you may end up being the Tiger's much. Right now in the ancient Edo state, things are falling apart for the Obaseki camp. The bush meat is truly hunting the hunter.

The quest for power is good but when it becomes a "do or die" the core essence of leadership is defeated and it is just a matter of time before the subjects begin to draw a line of distinction between the kind of leadership they want and your interests will begin to come under spotlight.

Power drunkenness has marred a lot of good leaders. No wonder Socrates said "power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely". Sycophants will always be around but it behoves on you as a well intentioned leader to guide your heart. One of the holy books said " guide your heart with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life".

Here is a good lesson for aspiring public office holders. Be careful how you use lower, read books like laws of power by Robert Greene and others. Remember the first rule of power "Never outshine your master".

Ensure at every point that you maintain your rings of defence while dealing with political figures because at the end of the day politics us a game as they say. Now that Obaseki has played the wrong card and has trapped himself in the current constitutional rape and impunity reigning supreme in Edo state, your guess is as good as mine as in the oncoming days we might be watching the melodramatic display on our screens right from the comfort of our homes.

The kind of political awareness in Edo state at the moment is unprecedented. The youth have moved on from the era of violence to demand for good governance. James Hardley chase, a renowned writer once said " The Vulture is a patient Bird", Bob Marley also left us with a line to remember "You can fool some people sometimes, but you can't fool all the people all the time".
