IZE-IYAMU JUDGES EDO ELECTION TO BE FAIR SO FAR

Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the ongoing Edo governorship election, has adjudged the election as peaceful so far.

The former Secretary to the State Government made this known shortly after casting his vote at 9:30 am at polling unit 26, ward 5 in Iguododo community, Orionhwon Local Government Area.

The Pastor under the Redeemed Christian Church of God RCCG expressed optimism of emerging the winner if the election is conducted conscientiously, peacefully and in line with legal processes.

He told Instantnewsnaija that “The accreditation went on easily. I was given the ballot paper after accreditation and I casted my vote immediately. The ballot box is also placed in a way that will give the voter privacy. I cannot say that what is happening here is happening all over the state because the communication is not very good.”

“I am happy I have been able to vote.”

DRAMA AS NDDC WALKS OUT ON LAWMAKERS

The Commission on Thursday refused to make presentations before the House Committee on NDDC. According to the acting managing director of the NDDC, Professor Kemebradikumo Pondei, the Commission cannot partake an investigative hearing which is being presided over by the chairman of the committee who has been accused by the NDDC of hijacking the Commission’s projects. Professor Pondei was of the opinion that the NDDC will not get a fair hearing. Following the NDDC’s action, the committee resolved to issue a warrant of arrest compelling Professor Ponder to appear before the lawmakers and make a proper submission. COVID-19: EBONYI STATE GOVERNOR TESTS NEGATIVE, EXPEESSES GRATITUDE TO GOD FOR RECOVERY

He disclosed that his daughter and three of his close aides also tested negative for the virus. The governor thanked God for his recovery and the people of the state for their prayers and support. This comes four weeks after they were infected by COVID-19. On July 4, Governor Umahi announced that he, his daughter and aides tested positive after carrying out the test. Although he said they were not showing any symptoms, he, however, said they went into isolation in line with protocols laid down by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). He, therefore, directed the Deputy Governor, Kelechi Igwe, to take over the frontline coordination of the state’s fight against the pandemic to protect Ebonyi people.
