LOOTING IS A BRAZEN DISREGARDS FOR THE BLOOD OF THE FALLEN HEROES - DAVIDO

Davido, has condemned the lootings that trailed the shooting of #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki toll gate Lagos.

Last Tuesday, soldiers had opened fire on protesters clamouring for police reform on the back of extrajudicial killings carried out by operatives of the now-defunct special anti-robbery squad (SARS).

Serial looting of private businesses, destruction of government properties, and burning of police stations had followed. This caused state governments to declare curfews of varying durations to restore normalcy to the economic hub of the nation.

Taking to his Twitter handle on Sunday evening, Davido described the attacks as “disrespect” to citizens who died in the course of achieving the goals of the #EndSARS protests.

“It is painful that what started as a peaceful protest has been hijacked and turned into complete Anarchy, in total disrespect to those that lost their lives during the Peaceful protest,” the singer wrote.

“This is def not the way to honour those that lost their lives while protesting peacefully. What is there to gain from burning and looting private businesses that provide employment to our own people??

“Or burgling or burning houses belong to innocent citizens?! Or burning Buses that our own people depend on for transport to go to work and go about their lives???

“Why burn police stations, when one of our demands was better police welfare and training??? Please stop stop stop stop! It all makes no sense whatsoever !! If you know anybody partaking in this, tell them to stop!!”

Analysts have variously condemned this total dislregard of law on the part of some bad eggs of the society and called for calm across the nation without which meaningful effect can be acheived.

NIPPING DEPRESSION IN THE BUD I

By: Agosu Sewanu Omoleye Folks, let us start this write up by sharing this story Late Pa Gamaliel Onosede told me in 2008 as a fresh writer before my interview with him. My first major personality interview actually. A boy went to the sea side early in the morning for fresh breeze and he saw the waves bringing Oysters to the sea shore. He wondered how he could save the beautiful Oysters and started throwing them back into the sea one after the other. Soon it was almost dark and an old man came to him asking how many of these creatures do you think you can save? The young boy answered and said 'At least these ones will be saved'. This is deep! We can not do it all but we can play our parts to heal the world. Read this line by line and we hope to educate someone. Media in recent times has been agog with a mirage of content bordering on clinical depression, cases of suicide, suicide attempts, drug abuse and many more prevalently among the youth. Recent statistics have shown that t...
